I haven't been here for awhile
Does anyone know if there will be a Jeep Jam / Jeep event in 2024? My son saw something about one in May last year, and I remember a trip report from someone (jdbdjd I think?) who had attended on in the past. I tried a google search but it just shows tbd. Son wants to bring his beloved 95 YJ Wrangler down for this if it is happening, and I think I'm going to have to sacrifice and come with him
Thanks!

I heard it was canceled due to the shortage of rubber ducks. Supply chain issue, you know?

Haven’t the Jeep events usually been in September? I could be wrong and someone will correct me if I am. We love our Jeep but have never participated.
I hope you can come down 2boysmom! You always had great posts. (I used to be banks68).

Used to be late September, but last year it was in May. It used to be a bigger event during the 'Offroading with Luke and Eddie' years. Scaled back some, but usually a good turnout. Events take place in various places, but the Soundside Event site is the main location. Here's the link for last year.

Squid, Dare and Currituck Counties are also assessing a $200 Environmental Impact Tax for the Jeep Jamboree because of the increase in Transmission Fires on the beach that week.

Well, if they'd stop stuffing those little rubber duckies in the breather vent, they wouldn't have as many overheated transmissions.
(Interestingly, the first new off the lot vehicle I bought was a 1977 Jeep CJ-7, but with the Dana manual transmission you never had 90 weight gear oil overheat. Just your clutch! I'm looking at restoring one right now, but my wallet has kept me from pulling the trigger just yet!)

My hubby isn’t big on the rubber duckies. The one time we found one on the Jeep he quickly put on some else’s.

Come on Jarhead, it's whatever county Norfolk is in. That place is teeming with Squiddly Diddly's

Squid County is wherever I am. Sometimes it's within an existing county, like when Sal threw me in a pool. (OBC old timer joke...)

I'm sure you have something great planned for Sunday!
In regards to jeep duckies, I think they are precious! I never heard about them until Hatteras island time spent. So cute!! I have missed out on the jeep venue as we're Toyota and Mercedes people.

Haha, Bent you crack me up! Octopus is so good, it tastes similar to crab with a chew like a good steak. I get it 10lbs at a time from Alaska.
I simmer it in 12 ozs of beer, lemon juice, pepper corns and a few garlic cloves for 45 to 60 minutes until a knife point slides into it. Thinner pieces cook faster so they get pulled out first. Then I marinate it in the fridge overnight with olive oil, paprika, garlic, lemon peel and parsley. The next day, I just crisp it up on a hot charcoal grill and it's ready to eat.

Hi Dan, good to "see" you! And all the rest of you! Feel free to divert the thread, I don't mind.
My son is hopeful for an event, but apparently we are now bringing the jeep down for 6 days in May whether there is an event or not. He loves that thing and has wanted to get it on the beach since he got it running. Hubby and I have been invited out of necessityif the YJ has issues, son isn't old enough to rent a truck and trailer to get it back home
Next question....how do I get to Nags Head from SE Ohio without using interstates? We will go as far as Raleigh the first day and I know how to get there after that, but son would like to avoid the WV Turnpike and 40 if possible.
