On the morning of May 31, hosted by the Hanban and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the 18th “Chinese Bridge” world undergraduate Chinese language competition, hosted by University of Lagos Confucius and co-sponsored by Confucius, Azikwe University, was held in the main hall of the University of Lagos in Nigeria.
A total of 16 students participated in the competition, which consisted of three parts: a Quiz on Chinese culture, a talent show and a personal keynote speech. In the talent show, the contestants are Eight Immortals.
In the “We Are the World” keynote speech, the contestants quoted the classics and combined their own experience to explain their understanding of the speech theme in clear and fluent Chinese. “We Are the World” is a fusion of cultures that transcends national boundaries, religions, cultures, histories, languages and colors.
In the end, Bao Rong, a student from University of Lagos Confucius, won the championship, and Confucius, a student from the University of Namdi Azkwe, came in second place. Bao Rong will represent the Nigerian division to China to participate in the 18th `ChineseeBridgee”WorlddUniversityyStudentssChineseeCompetitionnFinalss,ZhanggHaokaii will also go toChinaa with him to watch the competition.
